Honda, GM Release Specs for Next-Gen Fuel Cell System
Honda has unveiled its next-generation fuel cell system, developed in collaboration with General Motors, which offers double the durability and a 25% reduction in cost compared to previous versions.
Honda plans to begin production of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) equipped with this system in 2024, starting with a CR-V-based model. This new FCEV will feature a plug-in function, allowing the battery to be charged externally and enabling the vehicle to operate as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for short distances.
Honda aims to expand the use of its fuel cell system beyond passenger vehicles to include commercial vehicles, construction machinery, and stationary power stations, with a goal of increasing sales to 60,000 units annually by 2030.
