The target, gentlemen, is not following the previous regime. Rather, it is a sectarian and religious mobilization by the new authority against everyone who does not follow the Salafi doctrine (ISIS). The biggest evidence is that the mosques in all areas of their influence in the Syrian provinces on 3/5 after the evening prayer called for jihad for the sake of Allah and the killing and crushing of the Alawites and Christians. With the support of the authority, very large numbers of volunteers, jihadists, and factions affiliated with the current Syrian Ministry of Defense were sent, armed with all kinds of weapons and drones, to the areas where the Alawites are located on the Syrian coast and the countryside of Homs and Hama to carry out this operation. Most of the media stations showed pictures of these convoys. More than 500,000 fighters, and this number is also acknowledged by these stations.
When these crowds arrived at the targeted areas, in addition to the citizens present and their supporters, the innocent, defenceless youth, women, children, the elderly and the elderly were taken out of their homes, and they were killed with pride and honour, and their bodies were mutilated, burned and hidden, and then their possessions, homes and private cars were stolen.
No one could resist them because they were very large in number and armed with all kinds of weapons. They are inhumane people and terrorists in every sense of the word. They are bloodsuckers who killed more than 3,000 people, including more than 200 children. More than 600 women were killed and taken captive, and about 1,000 people were arrested and taken to unknown locations.
The one who rules Syria now is the terrorist organization ISIS in another form…and it seeks by all means to destroy a country that is more than 5,000 years old of civilization and humanity, and to obliterate all its historical and cultural landmarks, and to kill its sectarian and ethnic components by all available means…and everything that the new authority in Syria declares or says is completely contrary to its real and realistic actions.

As has become evident in the recent short period, the leader of “Al-Qaeda in the Levant,” which has been renamed “Jabhat al-Nusra” and then “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham,” has come to power in Syria. This transition was facilitated through international and regional consensus, delegating authority to Turkey under President Erdoğan. Turkey, which previously collaborated with Russia, the Assad regime, and Iran, enabled this organization during its presence in Idlib, granting it control over the Bab al-Hawa customs crossing between Syria and Turkey through the “Rescue Government” affiliated with al-Julani, serving as an indirect financial support source for this terrorist organization. Additionally, the Assad regime supplied this group with electricity, water, and oil derivatives throughout its time in Idlib, while the organization collected utility bills for its own benefit.

The danger posed by this terrorist organization gaining control in Syria is not only a threat to Syria but to the region and the world, especially Europe. This remains true even as Abu Muhammad al-Julani dons a tie and formal attire, discussing citizenship and diversity with the Arab press. Simultaneously, his terrorist organization, which includes foreign mercenaries and collaborates with other terrorist groups such as the Ahrar al-Sham and Hamzat, has committed massacres in the Syrian coast, Al-Ghab, and Homs against Alawites, driven by sectarian targeting and genocide. To date, there is no census or media outlet permitted access to these areas, and these terrorist groups have been burying bodies in mass graves or disposing of them in the sea. The estimated number of victims from the genocide within just a few days is around ten thousand men, women, and children. Some reports suggest the number may be higher or lower, and a significant number of Christians have also been killed as a result of these extermination efforts.

When evidence of these atrocities began to surface through personal mobile phone footage, the organization claimed it was combating remnants of the Assad regime, even resorting to planting weapons in homes after killing their residents or placing weapons beside bodies for staging purposes. It is worth noting that the local population, who once possessed weapons, had surrendered them long ago.

These actions are consistent with the criminal activities of the leader of this terrorist organization, who is now in power in Damascus and receiving Western officials. His group had previously murdered Christians, Shia, and Sunni individuals who opposed them in Iraq, and they have replicated this behavior in Syria, particularly during their time in Idlib, where their members killed and displaced entire Christian and Alawite villages, replacing them with Uyghurs, Chechens, and others. They have also targeted and executed Sunni individuals opposing the Assad regime and established several prisons, including the al-‘Uqab prison, which currently houses hundreds of detained Sunni men, women, and children.

The emergence of this terrorist organization and its legitimization by the international community, especially the Western one, paves the way for its followers, particularly thousands from Central Asia, China, and Russia, to enter Europe via the eastern Mediterranean coast of Syria, thereby threatening the social fabric of these countries, particularly Germany. This is due to the nature of the overlap between this organization and Erdoğan’s team, which currently manages al-Julani in Syria.

It is imperative for Europe to recognize that acknowledging this extremist faction and its leader as a legitimate authority in Syria, or receiving him anywhere within its borders under any pretext, opens the door for the Al-Qaeda leader and his supporters to disrupt European society in general, and German society in particular. Such disruption could ultimately alter the lifestyle in Europe and pose a short to medium-term threat to its cultural existence.

Therefore, I believe that defending the values of citizenship, democracy, and secularism in Syria, and supporting the people there, is a profound humanitarian and European interest.
