The pendulum cycle synchronises with the 24-hour temperature cycle and acts like a moisture pump which synergises with the westerly wind pattern, helping to draw moist air in from the sea. Rainfall often takes place at times when the sun sets, air cools and condenses moisture which moved in from the sea some hours earlier.
