Guest commentary: USAID

For thousands of years, human governments have been corrupt. Whatever their claimed form of government. (Or even if the organizations had a system which they actually followed.) From absolute monarchies of all flavors to so-called democracies and all kinds of republics. In add the possible forms of corruption the human mind can conceive of. (Indeed, many types of corrupt behavior originated with governments.) Nepotism, bribery, kickbacks, blackmail, even forms of prostitution and organized murder. To say nothing of torture, kidnapping, and slavery. Governments do them all. Or rather, the people who lead and work in government do them.

Including governments right here in the States.

Rob Morse again presents an excellent short summary of the cesspool (if that is even an accurately-nasty word to use) called the US Agency for International Development: USAID. A cesspool revealed in the past two weeks. And we suspect, one whose depths of depravity have not yet been determined, much less plumbed.

You Were Right, and They Were Lying to You

Rob, of course, is paying attention to just the last 8-10 years. But more and more information points out that the USAID’s deception, deceit, and misconduct (at least by any reasonable standard of morality) is something that goes back to the 1960s. Like the FBI, the CIA, and so many other institutions of government, the rot is integral and has just grown with time and opportunity.

This is really nothing new. Some of our staff here at TPOL have advocated that a naive and idealistic John F Kennedy created USAID for the purpose of doing good things to help other nations and people. Without refuting that, we note that JFK was the son of his father, but perhaps also hated by what we today call the Deep State – and the real reasons for the creation and 60-year existence of USAID probably were far, far different from what JFK and others said.

As Mama Liberty was fond of reminding us, we probably will never know the truth or even the general details. What we have learned in just a few days is that the level of corruption, the misuse of power, opportunity, stolen (tax) money and resources, is truly amazing. These States were (and are) an exceptional “nation.” We should not be surprised that the FedGov is exceptional in its level of dishonest and fraudulent conduct.

If there were any honesty in government, this would lead to the mass prosecution and trials of tens of thousands of present and former government officials and employees and politicians. Under RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act. Because, however bad private organized crime is, the government-led version of organized crime is worse.

We also note that it is not necessarily the bosses and employees of USAID that are responsible for what this corrupt organization has done. Or not just them. It is the political leaders: elected and appointed. It is the permanent bureaucracy that facilitated – and ordered and allowed – the actions perpetrated in the name of the States.

It is an incredible temptation to urge people to take matters into their own hands, for it is highly doubtful that any of the perpetrators of these deeds will ever be punished in this life. We can only pray that God will avenge these wrongs. And take every morally-acceptable action to end this.
