St Louis Blues Sacrifice

It is an elite privilege to be a member of the national hockey league, I should know, I still have an uncashed paycheck from the St. Louis Blues. Yes, I held media credentials, on the payroll and cheered our men on to victory. With this privilege came great agony, tears, bruises and debate. I am no stranger to these things, as many of you are not either. However, I am struggling to wrap my mind around the front office of the St Louis Blues. The way they are portraying our club and our achievements. I am upset that our great club is turning into a Shriners Circus. (no offense, love them) However…There is a place and time for sick children, dead pop stars and washed up athletes. However tempting, it is NOT NOW.

Now is the time for HOCKEY…

I get it, its been decades since we were here, (but I can promise you, we didn’t act so tacky…)

For instance, the hashtag #Laila. #bobbleheadLaila.

It’s sad, to define yourself by your illness. This will haunt her, its not wise to promote illness, and milk it for it’s worth. It comes across as tacky, insensitive and in poor taste. The NHL and the community are in partnership with local hospitals. This is all fine and good. Early on in the season, Laila was noticed by one of our men, who shall remain nameless (#55). She touched his heart, she needed a bone marrow transplant and she has since gone viral. I’m glad she found a HSCT donor match and her genetic inflammation issue can be resolved. However, This girl has been paraded around interviewing athletes and doing the circuit. The moon face, and incessant rambling is from the prednisone, ok. I get the community aspect, but come on! THIS IS HOCKEY. Stick to the GAME. I have first hand experience with prednisone, I need a HSCT, (Human Stem Cell Transplant) and I have waited MY whole life for the Cup to come to St. Louis. I worked my butt off for this organization, where are my VIP tickets? My mic and my bobblehead, my HSCT?  This type of promotion only makes those “less fortunate” feel bad, left out and underprivileged. Showing support to charity is fine, but come on! THIS IS the STANLEY CUP! I feel if you choose to promote sick kids, do it AFTER we WIN THE CUP> Have a HUGE SICK KID PARADE down Market Street.

Please NO MORE coverage of Laila. WE are ALL SUPER FANS of the TEAM…

Think of the kids that are NOT at the game, with NO VIP access and NO donor match. Think of those kids, who are being made to feel bad… Stop the circus St. Louis, and bring me the cup.

really… Bring ALL the sick kids the Cup…And St Louis Blues Front Office…stop singling out one, when there are many, many “Laila’s”…

If anyone would like to donate a row of tickets for game 6 in St Louis, I will be happy to chaperone a team of WINNERS….
